About this tiling referral website
Toowoomba Tilers is an enquiry and referral website run by Yes Right Pty Ltd. How enquiries are handled, who quotes, and how to check a QBCC licence.
Toowoomba Tilers is an enquiry and referral website operated by Yes Right Pty Ltd, ABN 91 664 546 061. It exists to help people in Toowoomba and nearby towns describe a tiling job clearly, so that it can be passed to an independent local tiler who may be able to quote for it.
This website is not a tiling business. It does not hold a QBCC licence, employ tilers, lay tiles, supply tiles or sign building contracts. It does not claim a workshop, a showroom, customer reviews or past projects. Images on the site show the kind of work each page talks about; they are not photos of jobs arranged through this site.
What happens to your enquiry
- You fill in the quote form with your suburb, contact details and a description of the job.
- The details are passed to an independent tiling provider who services that area, so they can respond.
- The provider may ask for photos, measurements or a site visit before deciding whether to quote.
- If they quote, the quote is theirs: the price, scope, start date and terms come from them.
Sending an enquiry does not commit you to anything. A provider may decline a job, and response times and availability are not guaranteed. Our privacy notice explains how enquiry details are used and how to ask for them to be removed.
What the provider is responsible for
Once a provider contacts you, the arrangement is between the two of you. The provider is responsible for:
- Their quote, including what is included and left out.
- Holding the right licence for the work and the value of the job.
- The contract, deposit and payment terms.
- Workmanship, waterproofing, cleanup and any defects.
- Taking out home warranty insurance where the job requires it.
Before you agree to anything, ask for the scope in writing, including tile supply, removal of old tiles, waterproofing, rubbish removal and how any extra work will be priced and agreed.
How to check a tiler’s licence in Queensland
Tiling in Queensland is licensed by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). Under QBCC rules, anyone doing building work worth more than 3,300 dollars must be licensed. To check a provider:
- Ask for their QBCC licence number and the name the licence is held in.
- Search for it on the QBCC find a licensed contractor page, which links to the licensee register and its full history view.
- Check that the licence class matches the work. For tiling, that is the wall and floor tiling class, which also covers applying waterproofing for tiling. A separate waterproofing class exists, and a builder’s licence covers broader renovation work.
- Make sure the name on the licence matches the name on the quote and contract.
- If the work involves moving drains or pipes, the plumbing part needs a licensed plumber, at any value.
For residential tiling worth more than 3,300 dollars, the QBCC lists the work as insurable under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme, and the licensed contractor who signs with you pays the premium.
Using the guides on this site
The service and area pages explain how common tiling jobs work in and around Toowoomba, so you can brief a provider and read their quote with some confidence. Start with bathroom tiling or shower waterproofing for wet areas, floor tiling for living spaces, and the tiling cost guide for published price ranges. Area notes cover Toowoomba, Highfields, Rangeville, Kearneys Spring and Westbrook.
The guides are general information, not advice about a particular job, building approval or contract. Rules change, so check anything important on the QBCC website or with Toowoomba Regional Council.
Questions about an enquiry
To ask about an enquiry you have sent, or about your personal information, reply to any message you received after submitting the form. Do not use the form for urgent leaks or dangerous situations: turn off the water at the meter and contact a licensed plumber directly.
